Fine Dining for Cheap – New York City Restaurant Week

Last summer some friends of mine and I decided to take advantage of NYC Restaurant Week and we were not disappointed. We went for dinner at the Blue Water Grill, which is located in Union Square. For $38 each (not including tip or tax) we had a three- course prix-fixe meal, which included an appetizer, an entree and dessert. I went with a sashimi appetizer, the cod entrée and a wonderful homemade ice cream for dessert. It was amazing.

WHEN, WHERE AND HOW MUCH?

Restaurant Week takes place twice a year (once during the summer and once during the winter) and dates back to 1992. This year there are over 175 participating locations. Most are fine dining establishments and they all offer a prix-fixe lunch for $25 and a prix-fixe dinner for $38. You usually get to select from two or three dishes for each course. Drinks are extra.

The Restaurant Week option is available Monday through Fridays and on Sundays at some locations. Make sure to ask for the Restaurant Week menu and you may want to make reservations at some locations, as they tend to fill up quickly.

So have an amazing fine dining meal for cheap in the city via NYC’s Restaurant Week!
